Does this sound like a normal peri menopause thing or something unrelated?

I'm late forties and have had the odd hot flush / night sweat but nothing too extreme so far
My periods are still mainly regular but heavier than they used to be.
I had a normal period mid November but then as it finished I started pretty much straight away with the "due on" feeling (sore boobs and bit short tempered 🤣) and that's carried on ever since with almost constant light bleeding. Definitely enough to need a pad every day but never turned into a proper period, and the blood is much more pink / red than normal (sorry tmi) The due on feeling has continued through out.
My stomach is very bloated, but then my diet hasn't been great on the run up to Christmas and I'm overweight generally
Has anyone else experienced this kind of bleeding and is it likely due to menopause ramping up !

Same thing I had at same age actualy sounds like the peri menopause..however in fact it may have started at lot more before than what you think..i expect what your in for now is periods will become irregular and or stop completley...another typical symptom of menopause is doing realy batty things due top memory relapse brain fog etc..around that age i started doing things like putting things in wrong place coffe granuals in the fridge and then (which me and son still find hillarious to this day) I hid laptop from son as he was being naughty so laptop was witheld etc but batty me put it in the oven thinking how smart i was to hide it in a place he would never look...only to forget and later cooked it as was preheating the oven for some chips..so we had micro chips that nite lol..seriously tho these sort of things you dismiss are probably perimenopause if that helps

Sounds like peri probs. I had the long and heavy periods, a week off, and then back on again. Knackering.

Ended up going to private acupuncture to get it sorted as I didn’t like the hot nights or the continual periody feelings/symptoms and didn’t want to take prescription meds.

Lots I’m here will have advice. You don’t have to feel this way, you have options.

OP, I’ve been experiencing exactly the same thing but I’m sorry to tell you mine has escalated!
Started in October, when I got a period a week after I finished mine. Then carried on spotting for about 10 days, then a break of 2 weeks. All started up again with another period, then spotting, then another period etc. Have now been bleeding for over a month and the last 10 days has been horrendous. The heaviest bleeding I’ve ever known with cramps and clots.
Had a phone consultation with the gp, he thinks def menopause related, but sending me for bloods and a scan. Also, prescribed me some traneximic acid for the bleeding (at my request) as I was scared to leave the house for a few days! Seems to have helped a bit.
Absolutely sick of it now, feel wiped out and smelly. Such a shock after mostly regular periods and never very heavy. For the first time in my life, I’ve had to buy super plus tampons and huge towels......
Almost 50....I naively thought they would get further apart, then stop 😩.
I suppose I’m luckier than some as have never really suffered awful periods and I know women who have had problems for years.

Oh and doctor said when bloods and scan done, will discuss hrt.

Thanks all. At least it's put my mind at rest that it's normal even though I don't think i looking forward to the next few years.

@aliendancing You bought a smile to my face with that, but also definitely rings true as well, not so much misplacing things, but lack of concentration. I seem to flit from one task to another
@Elieza Thanks. If it gets worse I'll look into something like that, as I have a long term health condition which I have to take strong medication for every day, so I'm reluctant to add more if I can possibly avoid it.

@Winealot That does sound like you started very similar to me, sorry you are going through that. I hope the doctors can sort out something to help. I've had night sweats in the past for a different condition and the not sleeping made everything seem so much harder

OP, it’s depressing isn’t it?! My bleeding seems to have calmed down a bit, although I’m almost too scared to say it! I haven’t taken any of the trans acid tablets for a couple of days.
The odd thing is, that I’ve had peri symptoms for a while....some night sweats, horrendously painful breasts before a period, itching and mood swings. Also, period flu before I come on.
But since all this bleeding, none of those things. It’s all very strange, I feel like I don’t know what my body might do next!!

paradisebythedashboardlights · 28/12/2020 17:33

@Winealot I'm glad it's calmed down a bit for you. I think the not knowing what is going to happen next is really hard though. My bleeding has been much less than yours but I have had horrible breast pain throughout. Even the dog knocking against me is agony. It's hard to know which symptoms are worse.
I wish you good luck in getting some help and hope you start to feel better soon
