Please describe your breast pain

Hi All,
I’m 42 and starting to notice a few symptoms that I think are due to peri.
Over the course of the weekend I’ve developed pain in my breast that started with sensitivity on my nipple to moving into the breast. It feels hot and burning like mastitis but externally it looks fine - no redness, no hard lump and I feel ok in myself.
I had a bout of mastitis (not bf’d for 6 years) earlier this year and a scan showed that I have duct ectasia, so I immediately drew a conclusion of mastitis again, but now I wonder if the pain is a peri symptom. Could it really burn and ache like this? Thanks.

I think you should call your GP and ask for advice and maybe an appt.

I’ve done that and they’ve prescribed antibiotics over the phone, based on previous history. But I am not sure that the pain is mastitis hence me wondering if soreness and burning is a common symptom of peri menopause.

No it's not and my advice is you ask for a referral or at least ask the dr to see and examine you.

I get a hot needle of pain sometimes and painful nipples. I have cysts so I'm not sure if it's related to PM or the cysts. I have had a mammogram and been thoroughly checked though.

I get a sharp pain as if being stabbed by a hot needle. Can be random but most commonly occurs in the week before my period. But, although I'm now 49 I don't think it's specifically a peri symptom as it's been happening since my mid 20s.

All over breast pain was one of my worst peri symptoms. Wasn't a stabbing pain tho.
