Nauseous before period - could this be perimenopause?

In the last year, my PMT has really ramped up - seems to last from ovulation until I come on, starting with skin sensitivity, then the rage, then anxiety, then nausea. Feeling sick is the worst bit. It is debilitating and feels just like morning sickness. I even took a pregnancy test last month, even though DH has had the snip!

I'm 40. Is this perimenopause do you think? I've never felt nauseous before my period before this year. Is it worth going to the GP or will they just dismiss me as too young?

I felt like this and since starting HRT I feel a lot better. I'm also 40, so it was a bit of a battle to persuade the GP to prescribe based on symptoms rather than an unreliabile blood test. Now she agrees it's perimenopause based on how much better I feel on HRT.

That's interesting, so the GP prescribed just based on symptoms? What kind of HRT did you get?

Hi all

I’m 37 and I take fluoxetine for pmdd which def helps, even if it’s all psychosomatic!

Ive been getting flu like symptoms for about 5 days before every period for the last year or so. I’m always convinced I’m coming down with something and it’s only recently I’ve made the connection. So sometimes nauseous, other times like flu, others like I’m getting a sore throat or head cold.

You’re not alone Smile

Hi @Jhust that's interesting, I have just started sertraline for PMDD too. The doc was asking me questions about early menopause so now I am freaked out. Do you have any menopause concerns? Wondering if there is a link between PMDD and meno. We want another baby so I'm freaked out about it! I'm 31.

The fluoxetine was prescribed many years ago PolarnOPirate so predates this lovely new range of symptoms - which I really need to go and see about...!
