Livial HRT

I would really like some advice I am new to the world of HRT and know nothing!

I am waiting for a hysterectomy so have started zoladex and given Livial. Do I have to take it? Is it just advisory? Will this cause me a lot of side effects?

I honestly don’t know enough about HRT to know if something will be ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ and how I would know? I have done Google research but it’s very medical and not the experiences of actual women like you get on Mumsnet!

Hi OP, l didn't like to see your post go unanswered. l take it that the Livial (or Tibolone as its also known) has been prescribed to offset the side effects of the Zoladex ( hot flushes, dryness etc. ) Have a look at the Menopause Matters Website which covers all things meno related in accessible terms or the My Menopause Doctor website with Louise Newson. I do hope that helps you and all the best.

Thanks for replying

Well I did not start HRT yet, happy I didn’t because I still have sore boobs, cramps and now a horrible period! I don’t think it would have helped. Zoladex was my last hope of a reprieve until surgery and now I don’t think it’s going to work 🙁

Hi O.P. I'm so sorry to hear that, l hope you won't have too long to wait for your op. It would be worth reading up on the hormonal support you will need following the op as if it is a full hysterectomy, including removal of your ovaries, you will require hrt.
