Perimenopause and skin tingling anyone?

Tubbytenbums · 27/11/2020 11:58

I'm almost 48 and I think going through the peri stage. I'm getting skin tingling all over body and real sensitivity to touch,/pressure. It's unpleasant.
Also sleep issues, brain fog and flooding on first day of period. Period still quite regular although cycle is a good few days shorter
I can cope with everything but the skin tingling is a horrible sensation. Any suggestions? TIA

You poor thing. Try a magnesium bath, loads of moisturiser, anti histamine and one of those acupuncture mats.

Thanks @Jodiewa, I'll try those suggestions

Get HRT. It's wonderful.

HolyCrapbags · 27/11/2020 19:11

I agree that HRT is wonderful! I am perimenopausal too (periods still regular but had an ever increasing list of bizarre symptoms) and started HRT 3 months ago - life changingly brilliant so far.

Yes, my skin crawls and is very sensitive some of the time. Thanks for the suggestions Jodiewa, I shall try them.

I was going to google this tonight as it's a new symptom for me and wasn't sure it was connected. I'm 47 and seem to be adding a new delight to the list every 5 minutes Grin Twice today I've been convinced something I was holding (a knife the first time and a cat littter scoop the second) were wet and dripping water (or worse in the case of the scoop!) on my hand. Nothing at all there when I checked but have had other weird tingling/tickling sensations as the day's gone on. Periods have just started to get a bit erratic, cycle had gradually shortened to 25/26 days over the last year and then recently I went 7 weeks with nothing, bled horrifically for a fortnight then nothing for a week and a half and then a 'normal' period so think it's safe to say I'm in peri Smile Hope someone can recommend something to help OP, will be following in case it gets worse for me too, just a bit irritating for now.

Hi

Just read your post and I have had this issue for nearly 4 years. Tingly prickly skin in my arms and legs clothes seem to irritate it too. I get in most days but some days are worse than others
Very uncomfortable.

Tubbytenbums · 09/12/2020 23:35

@Rainy54 do you think it's related to peri?
I have been using magnesium bath salts as suggested by pp and it has really helped with the tingling. Still feel my skin's sensitive but probably a bit less so

I get it and a rash that gets much worse when I am ovulating. My head gets so itchy too. Plus VA and flooding. And I am snappy. I wish I could just be normal and have hot flushes instead.

Rainy54 · 10/12/2020 06:07

Hi
Yes mine started when my periods started to get lighter. I've been to dr. a few times and he said menopause. Does your feel worse in clothes. Mine started when I was 50 I'm now 54. I have it all the time some days it's hardly there other days it's is very uncomfortable. Sometimes mine feels like it burns too.

I think it's asign of low estrogen. I get it at night mainly in my hand and feet. I am on HRT (pill form) but I top it up with a pump of oestrogel every two days.
