Vagina bulge.

I'm 45 with 4 DC.
Sorry for too much info.

Last night I went to wipe after a wee and I felt a bulge at the entrance to my vagina. I felt around and pushed it back with my finger. It felt long, like a finger, with a gap on each side. It didn't hurt.
What could it be?

It sounds like your cervix is poking out - a prolapse. Ring your GP!

LittleCabbage · 23/11/2020 13:11

Some kind of prolapse? Bladder/rectum/intestines/cervix/uterus? They can often become more apparent around the menopause, because of the hormonal changes.

I would advise asking your GP to assess and refer you to a urogynaecologist.

Yes, I agree, sounds like a cervical prolapse. Not uncommon for these to occur around peri/menopause especially if you've had vaginal births and during the latter parts of your cycle.

Start pelvic floor exercises now if you aren't doing these regularly already. NHS Squeezy app is great for this and you'll need a referral to urogynae via your GP. Usually you'll see a women's health physio as part of the referral process prior to seeing the urogynae team and they'll be expecting you to have committed to a pelvic floor exercise regime in the meantime thus why best to get that started now.

Thank you. I had a polyp removed two years ago and the dr said I had 1st degree prolapse. I wasn't sure what that was.
I don't leak wee or anything. Last night I was a bit scared to be honest Confused
I've rung the GP now.

Definitely sounds like a prolapse. Sex can push it back up for a bit. I'm pretty sure it can be fixed though. Hope you get a sympathetic GP.

I’ve got the same thing, always looked a bit dodgy down below like my vag was full up,and feels a bit like a tampon is stuck.but it’s looked like that for years.Havent had my period this time round and night sweats are back(had this last year at which after 3 months came back on again) anyway sex recently has been sore need loads of lube but ky seems to just dry up?
I phoned drs receptionist gave me a telephone appointment for a week Monday !!! even after I told her about me full up vagina and sex dryness.

Tinkerbellone · 24/11/2020 14:16

Thank you everyone so grateful you took the time to reassure me. I went to drs. She was lovely and said most women get them. A prolapse of some degree is common- it's an anterior vaginal prolapse. So it bulges if I strain or poo Blush she checked it wasn't my cervix.
I didn't mind her inspecting my fanny, I was more embarrass at my massively hairy legs!! Lol. I'm growing them for winter lol
Feel so relieved now Grin
Going on patient dot com to look up exercises. 1, 2, 3, clench!
