Is this how it begins?

I'm 39. My periods have always been like clockwork - 25-28 day cycle.

Last month however it was 34 days and today I started bleeding at 18 days. I haven't had any other symptoms that I've read about, night sweats etc and generally feel ok (apart from the obvious pandemic-related stress!)

I'm waiting for a GP appointment but I wondered if this is how things have started for other people? It feels too soon!

That's how it started for me at 40. I had periods like clockwork forever, not on any hormonal contraception due to tubal ligation at 27, and they all of a sudden went crazy. Many other peri symptoms started the next year. Thank god for HRT.

To add, it's not too soon at 39. Per I can last 10 years or more before menopause.

You are young, so good to get it checked out (and don't be fobbed off - get blood tests etc as it could be something else and the sooner it is discovered the better).
But my menopause did start by my periods becoming irregular. Not so much in length in between more that I'd skip a month or three, then back to a s schedule, plus they were either shorter or longer or lighter. This happened when I was 54. No other symptoms at all though and I'm 58 now and I've not had a period in almost two years.

I am wondering if this has started for me but am on the pill so presume this makes things a little less clear? I’m 38 and have been having my erratic periods for 2 years now. I stopped getting my period altogether, when it started we were going through a very stressful time and put it down to that. Things seemed to get back on track at the start of this year so thought I was back on to normal but then my period stopped again. Despite taking my pill regularly, I haven’t had a period since July, when my pill breaks comes I get horrendous cramps on the days I would expect my period to start but nothing comes.

I expect it’s time to contact the doctor, aside from the lack of period though I feel fine so I suppose I’m a bit reluctant to get in touch as this may involve coming off the pill and don’t want to risk pregnancy and potentially feeling crap.

I'm 45 and the last 2 years my cycle has been regular but 26 days instead of 28 ( always been regular as clockwork since 14 yo) but this period is 6 days late which has pissed me off as my birthday is at the weekend and I thought I'd be done and dusted and in the " good" phase by then. I hate my reproductive system. I'm grateful it gave me kids but I'm not having any more so I wish it would just have the good grace to bugger off quietly. Can you tell I have bad pmt? It's worse than ever.
