If you're someone who really feels the cold, do you still get hot flushes?

I'm trying to work out if I'm peri. Lots of symptoms (anger, rage, tearfulness, very low mood, zero libido, exhaustion, extra heavy periods etc) but I still have regular periods and no hot flushes.

Do all women get hot flushes? I'm someone who is generally freezing cold. I've got Raynaud's. People always comment on how icy my hands. It's occurred to me that maybe cold blooded women like me don't experience hot flushes but I can't find any info about it on line.

Always get cold hands, blue nails. Brutal flushes. 😊

Oh no @Softpebbles ! I was so happy with my little theory and was hoping I would dodge the bullet of hot flushes!

Sorry!

I do . But the upside is I feel warmer in general too so am saving on heating bills. I’m very sensitive to both heat and cold and my flushes are much worse in hot weather . The winter makes them more bearable but doesn’t seem to stop them

Thecatisboss · 12/11/2020 10:47

I've got reynards and get white numb fingers and still get hot flushes unfortunately.

Iheartmysmart · 12/11/2020 10:55

I’m a cold mortal and am sure I got cold flushes if that’s even a thing! I’d suddenly get a real cold chill which made me shiver and the hairs on my arms stand up. They were very weird and lasted a few minutes each time. Nothing to do with the outside temperature as some of them were during the heatwave earlier in the year.
A colleague always felt the cold and didn’t have a single hot flush.

Jennygentle · 12/11/2020 10:56

Yep, Reynaud's Syndrome AND hot flushes. Joy.

iwannascream · 12/11/2020 11:00

I'm cold constantly even in a hot country on holiday and thought the hot flushes would be a blessing....omg I was so wrong they are brutal...freezing cold one minute boiling hot and stripping off the next lol.

JoeBidenIsGreat · 12/11/2020 11:07

Do all women get hot flushes?

No. They don't all get hot flushes.
Less than 50% got 'em in this survey of women age 45-60. YMMV.

If you're someone who really feels the cold, do you still get hot flushes?
Redcrayons · 12/11/2020 11:14

Yes I do, unfortunately.
I’m that woman with two jumpers complaining about the cold in July.
I had hoped that peri would warm me up a bit, but no.

WhereAreWeNow · 12/11/2020 11:16

Thanks @JoeBidenIsGreat - that's a little ray of hope. I've got so many other symptoms so maybe it's possible that I am well into peri but just don't get hot flushes.

Feeling a bit gutted to hear that so many of you suffer from the cold and still get hot flushes. I think I also thought that if I got hot flushes they'd be a blessing after spending so much of my life freezing cold. But it sounds like they're not at all!

I'm always cold and my hot flushes are quite pleasant Grin Well generally not unpleasant, anyway.

Holothane · 03/03/2021 23:18

Yes I always felt the cold today it’s more hot flushes but today my legs got cold as it was bitter out.

ladygindiva · 04/03/2021 14:18

I'm in perimenopause and have never had a hot flush, I've had about every other symptom going. My mum says she never had a hot flush or sweats either. She went the " natural" route as she didn't get on with hrt. I'm hoping I will get on with it, about to start hrt in a week as I'm losing my mind.

Spodge · 04/03/2021 18:09

I tend to be very cold. Prior to HRT I did get hot flushes but they never lasted long, did not happen often, and were not really a problem. I just got heat creeping up my back, sometimes reaching my face. My fingers stayed resolutely cold, and if the flush reached my face it was actually a shock to touch it with my cold hands. What I did get was really drenching cold night sweats. Vile.

ekidmxcl · 04/03/2021 18:13

I always feel the cold but suffered badly with hot flushes.

I did not suffer with extra heavy periods though. They became less frequent and now they are gone.
