Drenching night sweats

Just wondering if any of you more knowledgeable ladies know whether this sounds like peri-menopause....For the last 5 months or so I’ve been waking up soaked through from night sweats. The sweat running down my front and back wakes me up. I have to change my pjs and bedding constantly and have to jump in the shower the minute I get up because my pjs are all stuck to me. This happens probably 5/6 nights a week, and several times a night.
I’m 38 and my mum only had me and my brother at 40 & 43, I think she had the menopause at around 50.

I mentioned it to my GP and I’ve had loads of blood tests (for other health issues) and they don’t seem concerned, but it’s taken over my life (I know that sounds dramatic!)

I also have joint pains in my hands, don’t know if that’s connected.

Sorry for the moan - if anyone can offer advice, I would be so grateful - I have a GP appointment on Wednesday.

Sounds like peri to me, and you are not too young. Peri can last more than 10 years before full menopause. I highly recommend HRT, especially due you your age and preserving your heart and bone health.

BTW, blood tests are useless for diagnosing peri.

Awful isn't it? However completely cured by using hrt. Honestly go to the GP

I also suggest HRT. You are on the young side for perimenopause and as I understand it HRT is advised for long term protection of your bones if you start perimenopause early.

It'll also stop those miserable night sweats in their tracks.

I didn't realise night sweats were a peri symptom and put up with them for years. They started in my early 40s but never got to the stage of happening every night. Various other symptoms started kicking in and I went on HRT. Night sweats vanished at once.

Thank you for all the replies, it’s really interesting, I really didn’t think peri menopause could start so early! I am now wondering how many other symptoms I have are possibly caused by this - joint pain, brain fog, fatigue? I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow so I will mention this. Thanks again.
