What did your perimenopause look like?

I'm at high risk of early menopause due to family history. I'm older now than my mum/grandmother was when theirs started. I've got a mirena in so I've no idea about periods. However I have odd symptoms and I'm wondering of they are related:

  • one very itchy boob that's been bothering me for a while now. Have been to the GP, kept an itchy boob diary to see if cyclical (appears so but escalating recently). I have had a nipple injury before so may be related. Am going back to GP tomorrow to ask for further review
  • vaginal dryness for years
  • weird migraines, like they come on a bit more regularly but dont progress as usual
  • trouble sleeping/concentrating
  • really poor memory. Struggle to finish sentences sometimes!

I would add to this that like most ppl in 2020 I am very stressed, so may be related.

I just remember ppl saying that with meno you feel like you're going mad with all the weird symptoms. Is this it then?

sounds like it might be.

For me (I also have a mirena and have done for years):

Itchy boobs
achy hands to the extent that I had to stop wearing my rings
vaginal dryness
lack of libido and less plumpness of the skin down below
lack of decision making ability - general anxiety
low mood generally
trouble sleeping - I am up at 3am most days
extreme changes in temperature at night
hot flushes during day
excess facial hair

Its great - I'm 47.

I'm now on HRT and it helps.

Really interesting, thank you. It has only just occured to me that the itchy boob may be menopause related. I'm waking earlier and earlier these days
