Periods getting heavier?

Always had 'normal' periods, no PMT, no pain, moderate flow. I'm early 50's and whilst there's still no PMT or pain, the last couple of periods have been longer and the flow a fair bit heavier. Anyone else had this? Do I need to be concnerned? TIA

I'm exactly the same. All my life I've had light to medium periods with very little pain. The only downside was they were every 21 days.

Now they can range from every 21 to 90 days and boy do I suffer if there is a long time between periods. I get through an Ultra Plus lilet every few hours as I'm flooding and OMG the pain is sometimes unbearable.

Think it's just one of the joys of being peri menopausal- that along with all the other symptoms such as:

Restless legs
Being tired all the time
Being grumpy
Not being able to sleep at night but could sleep all day
Feeling like I have constant PMT
And probably many more I've temporarily forgotten due to brain fog!

Oh the joys

Thanks for the reassurance. I also have tiredness, lack of night sleep and grumpiness, but put those down to the ridiculous world we're living in!

Sounds like classic peri to me. HRT is a lifesaver, especially for the insomnia, anxiety, mood swings.

Mine are all over the place at 51. Today I stood up desperately trying to end a work call because I could feel the blood pouring out of me, and I’d left some on the chair. I go to the loo and finish peeing and when I go to pull my knickers up it’s dripping out of me onto the floor. It’s fucking awful and I need to take nurofen because the pain is so bad,

I also don’t know when they are coming. Used to be regular as clock work and limited pain. Now it can be every two weeks or every six. This is a whole new animal.😞

The mirena coil can really help with this. Its a game changer for many women

Poor you Blunness100, and indeed all of us! It's not much fun is it? I had lunch with a friend today and I could literally feel it coming out of me which I've never had before. Was really worried about standing up and seeing a mess, but was thankfully ok. I'd sort of expected them to get lighter/drier rather than the other way round. Off to read about the menapause...... Hmm

Yup, it’s fairly shit. I think thr worst part is not knowing how long this malarkey will go on for...
