Hi,
I've been reading a few posts on the peri menopause subject and found it all very interesting but havn't seen anything that describes me and wanted to ask if anyone else is having symptoms like me. I'm 44, have 3 kids and presume I started this peri business about 2 years ago as my periods got quite erratic, so of I went to the doc who did a blood test and told me my hormone levels were all over the place and yes that meant I'm perimenopausal and to maybe look into supplements - but that was it. The last two years of periods have carried on in the erratic fashion - cycles range from 15 - 35 days and periods have been anything from 3 days of hardly anything to my last one which carried on for 13 days!!! (although the period in September was very very light, so I hadn't had a 'proper period' since August. Even now the bleeding has finished I'm still having lots of crampy feelings. Apart from this though I don't seem to suffer with PMS, no hot flushes or night sweats or insomnia. I don't think I have any mood swings either - although DH would probably disagree. I'm not on any pills or anything. I tried the mini-pill and bled heavily and continuously until I fainted in the shower one day. The doctor thought I may be too sensitive to progesterone so I stopped taking it and for that reason I'm very wary of taking hormone pills again as they don't seem to suit me.
Can the perimenopause just be period problems without all the other things like hot flushes etc.
