Hoping for a bit of advice from you knowledgable ladies !
I'm 54 and still having the odd period every few months plus awful anxiety, mood swings, brain fog and palpitations. I have quite a stressful job (NHS), wearing full ppe, which really isn't helping with the anxiety ! Although very fit, normal cholesterol and never smoked I've got hereditary high bp, now well controlled with meds. I'm desperate to try hrt but not sure if the hypertension prevents that .....has anyone been in the same situation ?

High BP is not a contraindication for HRT as long as the BP is controlled through diet/ lifestyle/drugs.

Just make sure you use estrogen gel ( plus a progesterone) or patches as pills are now considered less safe and a higher risk of blood clots.

Thanks for answering ! Is the progesterone a tablet, gel or patch ?

If you go for a patch type, it's all a patch. if you go for gel, it's capsule taken orally or vaginally.

Just a thought and am sure there is no connection - your user name- liquorish raises BP quite a l ot in large amounts. (Something in the press a couple of weeks ago about a man who died after eating masses of it/ drinking the tea.)
