Hi, Did any of you have some hair thinning as part of perimenopause? I'm 44 and I'm not sure if it's my imagination but I think my hair is falling out more than usual.

Loss of estrogen is a factor but so is low iron if you have heavy periods.

What iron supplements do you recommend jinglinghellsbells?

You really need a blood test to be sure as if you are not low in iron, using too much can be dangerous. OTC stuff like Spatone and Floridex is ok but it won't be enough if you are really anaemic.

I've been having hairloss for a few years now, am 52. I'm finding it quite depressing as I now have an actual bald patch.

I've tried iron supplements to no avail, and various other suggestions like biotin, now trying collagen. And many topical things (not used minoxidil as I know that only works for female pattern baldness and I don't have a diagnosis and I've also read that it gets worse before it gets better, so it's quite a big step to take).

I think I'm off to the GP for a blood test to rule out iron, thyroid etc. Then take it from there. I'll happily pay for a private consultation for menopause if necessary, I have a work scheme that covers up to £500pa anyway.

I did an otc menopause test and it says I have raised fsh so I guess I am in peri. Not had a period for a few months but I have a merina coil so they can be a bit sporadic anyway.

Only other symptom is persistent low mood/irritability.

Hi VGD, I've just turned 37 and I'm in peri menopausal. I've had a consultation with the menopause clinic, they're really good. Ì had a virtual consultation with Dr Biggs, and now I'm on HRT.

I too have a burning scalp and hair loss and I've just started HRT, so I'm hoping it will stop the burning scalp and hair loss soon.

Has anyone had a burning scalp? I just want my hair to grow back.
