Spotting and peri menopause

How common is this?
I am getting it checked out just in case but would like to know if it could be just perimenopause.
So period stops. Clear a couple.of days, then a bit of fresh blood when I wipe. Then clear again. Then more spotting leading up to the next period.
Could it be just perimenopause?

Anyone? I've got a blood test and scan booked, but would like to know that it CAN be something innocuous?

I had this yesterday and the day before - those were days 3 and 4 after my period finished.

I’m going to get it checked out, but it has happened a few times over the last few years and I’ve had clear scans/tests etc each time. Hopefully it is just peri menopause, or ovulation bleeding? (I ovulate really early in the month I think)

Good luck with your scan.

If everything is normal after checks and you still have spotting issue then try taking vitamin b6. I had spotting issues before and after period (perimenopause) and b6 has helped a lot.

Hi OP I had this 3 years ago, my GP said it warranted further investigations and I paid for a private gynaecologist as I was so worried and the potential wait was lengthy. She said it was unlikely to be related to perimenopause and I had a ultrasound, MRI, and then a hysteroscopy. Nothing was found.

I have sometimes wondered if she saw a very scared woman coming for a number of reasons, and it cost me a lot of money.

It started again a few months ago. I called my GP expecting her to say not to worry, but she referred me for tests again. I think any bleeding outside of one's normal cycle is seen as needing to be checked out as a precaution.

I've had another ultrasound and am awaiting a gynae appointment. However I've been told there are no appointments available and I may have a very lengthy wait. I can't afford to go private this time so I'll need to wait.

I have read that this type of bleeding can be related to the perimenopause, but no medical professionals seem to consider it a likely possibility.

I'm 45, my periods are fairly regular, I have a copper coil. I'm unsure if I'm in perimenopause or not. I certainly have mood swings, foggy brain, tiredness and aches- but all of this could be attributed to life in general 🤷🏻‍♀️.
