Can we have a thread for people who struggled to get their HRT right?

I've heard figures being mentioned that around a third of women starting HRT have to tweak their options/dosage several times before finding the right regime for them. But still the same time every other post is 'I was a new woman overnight!' I've been on HRT for a couple a years now and still not sure I've found the right combo. I'm on the gold standard of gel and utrogestan, having changed from Utrogestan with Elleste 1mg then 2mg, but I'm still not really feeling an enormous benefit, tbh. Thinking of maybe switching from Utrogestan to Mirena, having been happy with the Mirena for birth control before ds... But specifics aside, I guess I just want some reassurance that SOMETHING will make me a new woman (or at least the old one again!). How long/how many different types did people have to try before they found THE ONE?

what's not still right?

HRT is part of a package of what you need to do.
There's all the other stuff like now being the time to eat really healthily, stop drinking/ smoking, take exercise daily etc etc.

Sorry if you do this already but in my experience HRT is one of many things that help.

HRT doesn't work for everyone. I tried 3 different regimes and it not only helped with the symptoms but brought new ones (like depression on progesterone when depression has not been a problem at all for me).

In the end, I started to feel much better as I transitioned from peri to full menopause. I take something for the poor sleep, made changes to my life to reduce stress, changes to my diet and it's now not so bad most of the time. I am still waiting for it to come to an end and hopefully get back to deep night sleep.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not claiming to be a paragon, but I'm reasonably healthy, am an OK weight, eat well(ish) and don't drink a great deal anymore. I do have a young child and a stressful job though! Perhaps I was just hoping for too much - certainly hrt has improved things, but I'm still a long way off being the old me, or even transitioning to a new live-able-with version of me! Has anyone suddenly found they suddenly 'cracked it' after a few different hrt regimes, or are changes more of an incremental improvement?
