Change in body shape?

I'm 49 and probably peri-menopausal. I've noticed my shape has changed. My waist is more pronounced. Is this a thing??

'Waist more pronounced" does that mean you are curvier, or your waist has widened? Either way it sounds like you've put on a few pounds which is easy to do in your late 40s.

No my waist looks narrower. So more hourglass than before.

Lucky you!

If you find out what caused it please let me knowSmile

My waist has got slightly thicker and the narrow part is higher. It's as if my low waist has thickened and high waist is still fairly narrow. I've maintained my weight pretty steadily for the last 20yrs or so so it isn't down to any significant weight gain. Fat and flesh lose density during/after menopause, surely some redistribution takes place?

I'm so glad you have posted this! I have two kids (6 and 20 months) and am now perimenopausal and I have noticed that having children has completely changed my shape. I was always an apple with no waist and long, skinny legs. I now have a waist and much bigger legs. How does this happen?

OverWintered · 07/10/2020 20:11

Oh yes, me too. Another "apple" here. I'm perimenopausal and have been on HRT for a few years and have noticed a gradual change in shape. A high waist has gradually appeared and my previously, fairly slim thighs have got bigger. It's just one of those things that I noticed and thought, well I didn't expect that. I wondered if it was my HRT rather than a peri-meno thing. Maybe it's nothing to do with either of those things.....

OverWintered · 07/10/2020 20:15

.... but I'm liking the slimmer waist.
The bigger thighs... not so much! 😜
