Hello, can anyone recommend a London based gynae who is an expert in menopause issues?
I have been on HRT for about 4 years now (am 57) (4 pumps of oestrogel a day plus mirena coil). However, I still get the most appalling sweats and hot flushes and have been suffering for over 8 years with this. It is mainly my face, head and neck, and it means that even after having a shower and washing my hair, I invariably end up with hair dripping with sweat - and I really do mean dripping. It is so embarassing when I go out somewhere and sitting with friends, and can feel the sweat pouring down my face and neck and am absolutely sick of it.
My blood tests show that my oestrogen levels are good, so after several visits to the menopause clinic at Chelsea & westminster I have been put on various drugs to try and stop the excessive sweating, none of which have made the slightest bit of diffenrce. Currently on Oxybutynin and have also tried gapapentin and clonidine.
I have also had endless investigations to try and determine if there could be another reason for the sweating, but everything just come back negative, and I am pretty sure that it is menopause related.
Am on the brink of giving up and accepting that nothing can be done for me, but a doctor friend advised seeing a consultant privately. So can anyone recommend someone who might be able to help? I'd be so grateful if anyone could advise. Thank you!
