Hair going curly during Menopause?

My hair, previously a bit wavy in places and straight in others and very thick feel or in handfuls over the summer. Not that unusual for me, it tends to do that after stressful events (lockdown!) or illness /pregnancy etc.
However the new hairs are significantly curler than normal and my remaining hair, liberated from the weight of thickness, is all ringlety. I can no longer blow dry it straight, it just frizzes.
Anyone else experienced this?

I’m 48. My previously bone straight hair is now wavy if left to dry naturally, or if it gets damp in the rain etc. No menopausal symptoms as yet, but I’m guessing the hair is a sign of some hormonal changes going on??

My.curly hair always went straight when I was pregnant and took a couple of years to recurl so I concluded that hormones must have a bearing on hair type so this makes sense to me op.

My previously wavy hair is now a mass of ringlets 😮
The texture has also changed.
So I wash it, bung in some cantu creme and leave it (it hasn't seen a brush or comb in months)

I looked it up, apparently you can carry both genes for curly and straight hair at the same time, with one switched off, but changes in hormone balance can switch the dormant gene on. My mum has very curly hair so i probably carry it from her. Im experimenting with leave in conditioner but i have lots of dry ends from using straighteners so will have to have a trim (tried one of those DIY layers cuts during lockdown which i now regretl

DD had poker straight hair until she hit puberty and is now ringlet curly. It could be hormonal changes. I'd maybe get a health check for hair loss though.

My hair has always been straight but with a slight kink. Could never leave it to dry on its own as it just stuck out everywhere. Now 57, menopausal and my hair has almost a curl, can clip it up at the sides wet and just leave it as it is for the day, amazing.

@Kakiweewee I'm not to worried about the hair loss because it's growing back in, i think it was tellogen effluvium, something I've had before.

Yeah. I lose hair when I'm stressed myself. But I know it can be caused by all sorts.
