Mirena coil - quick question if you have one fitted

I had one fitted about 6 weeks ago and I have had to use either panty liners or sanitary pads every day since. I have had a slight period and then blood every day. Is this usual? I was kind of hoping things might have settled down by now? Or does this continue for awhile yet? Please share your experiences. Thanks.

Eloisedublin not sure what I’m thinking about coil at moment, just fed up with constant spotting. It’s fresh blood most of the time too. I have an appointment to see nurse in a couple of weeks time. This appt is at the doctor’s surgery so will talk to her about it. This thread just shows you and I that everyone’s experiences are slightly different!

I spotted daily for 12 months had it removed after 18 months and the constant itching finally went away, it was the threads irritating me I think.

Ended up with womb ablation.

The mirena has been absolutely brilliant for me. After insertion I had one normal period, one very light period and then nothing for the last five years. Hurray!

However before that I did try and three monthly injection and that just settled down to spotting every day which was a complete drag. Stuck with it for nine months but spotting continued so I stopped it. I think some things just suit different bodies. You haven't had the mirena very long so I'd give it a bit longer and fingers crossed it does the job, but it might just not be right for you.
