Hi, I'm 45 and have been in Peri for 5 years. After seeing a private specialist I have been diagnosed with Progesterone intolerance, which now makes sense as to why I have had mental health problems my whole adult life.
I am on gel and Progesterone and have just completed my first cycle. How long should it take before I see improvements? The hope is I can taper off the 2 anti depressants i am on as they are causing so many side effects
I've also struggled with terrible joint pains, worse than normal, on the 12 days taking Progesterone. The specialist is saying I can take it vaginally but I'm worried about how to do it
She also wants me on 4 pumps of gel but I'm only taking 2 because I'm worried that too much Estrogen will make it more likely for me to get bc.
Sorry for the long post but I don't have many people to talk to. Thanks for listening X

My doctor told me I was more at risk from breast cancer if I became overweight or drank more than a moderate amount of wine than I was from using oestrogel. This helped put it into perspective.

With the progesterone I just stick I the tablet up as far as I can. As close to the cervix as possible. You’ll get used to doing it this way.

@Mindfullness There is no evidence that a higher dose of estrogen increases the risk of BC.

The most important point is that at 45 you do not have a risk of BC by using hrt. The risks with hrt only start when women are menopausal age which in the UK is 51.

At the moment, all you are doing is replacing what you ought to have for at least another 6 years.

Thanks Abraid, that is very true! I will try that as well with the progesterone!
Thank you Jinglebells, that is very reassuring to know as hadn't thought of it like that. I just want to feel semi-formal (whatever that is) and need to get off the anti depressants as have side effects from them too!
