Oestrogel increase causing heat issues

Hi I’ve increased my oestrogel to 3 pumps exactly one week ago.

Following my first go with 3 pumps I had a huge hot flush all over my body about 20 mins after. Since then I’ve been hot pretty much all the time with what I presume are hot flushes (no sweats) especially after hot food or drink and sometimes when just doing nothing. My face is also getting flushed red at times.

I Didn’t have flushes or heat issues before this increase. I’m 41 and taking hrt for mainly psychological early peri symptoms.

Do people think this is an initial reaction to the increase that will go? Any suggestions or experience?

Hmm The dose is 2 pumps (average and gives 1.5mcgs estrogen) but it can be anywhere from 1 to 4 pumps.

The idea is to start low and increase to control symptoms.

Why did you decide to go up to 3 pumps and how long were you using 2 or fewer?

The only way to find out is to reduce the amount and see if the hotness goes (but it could also mean your own levels have fallen and you are having flushes AND need 3 pumps - but a week on that level is not enough to help yet.)

You just need to experiment.

Thanks for replying, I started with one pump in April and went up to 2 pumps mid May I think which is what I’ve been on for a while. So I’ve been going slowly.

I was still getting bad irritability and anxiety as soon as my period finished so at my last consultation we discussed increasing to 3 pumps for a month then 4 after another month if needed.

Since I increased to 3 I’ve felt really good emotionally but now have this heat and flushing!

I wondered whether to just persevere and see if it decreases. I got hot when I initially went onto one pump but only for a couple of days.

I could as you say, go down to two again and see.

I wondered whether splitting the dose would help so I don’t get a big hit of oestrogen in one go but not sure if this even makes a difference?

To update I’ve had to come off all the oestrogel Confused as the hot flushes were intense and my facial skin was starting to be so reactive and sore. I’m two weeks into no oestrogel now and waiting for things to balance out again.

Wondering if the Mirena I had in April 2018 May be the cause of some of my problems with stress level and anxiety, depressive bouts. Who knows! X
