Are / were your periods worse / really awful in perimenopause?

I'm 48. My current and last two periods have been really difficult compared to all my previous ones, but I don't have other symptoms like hot flushes or insomnia.

I have

  • worsening of nerve issue (trapped nerve in neck), the pain and discomfort and tingling from this is much worse than it is later in my cycle
  • dizziness
  • fatigue
  • aches and pains
  • very doomy and irritable
  • last two periods but not this one I was hot then shivery and also very shaky

I've been lucky through life to have fairly mild / easy periods with just a bit of cramping.

Is this new, much worse experience of periods a perimenopause thing?

Would it be best to get rid of periods with a mini pill, or try HRT?

My cycle is now 3 weeks 2 days instead of 4 weeks, it's been fluctuating for 4 years between 3 and 4 weeks.

OP In the past three cycles mine have been every 2 wks, very heavy and painful. I am 44. I am considering the same thing maybe HRT as if it carries on like this I am not sure I can deal with the short cycles. My emotions are okayish. Going to see what next few weeks bring then if the same going to book an appointment too. I also think I have thyroid issues so need a general looking at. Yep looking through your list I have every single blasted one of them!! Peri -hell.

Sorry to hear you're having them every two weeks. Nightmare! It's miserable isn't it?

You mentioned having the same symptoms as me, does that include the trapped nerve issue or just the other ones?
