Period has lasted over two weeks - peri related?

Just to ask if anyone else has experienced this. I'm early 50's, pretty sure I'm in perimenopause, as periods more irregular, sometimes heavier, but normally last no more than 6 days, occasional night sweats.
But my period began on 5 August, and I'm still bleeding, not heavily, but a lot more than just spotting. Sorry if TMI. I've been on holiday, so not been to GP. Have googled, which was mistake, but wondering if it is just normal part of perimenopause? If you have experienced anything like this and saw your GP, would you mind sharing what he/she said, please?

I had this and it was related to having lost some weight (intentionally). The GP prescribed transexamic acid and that stopped it right away. This was a few years ago and I believe you can get the same drug OTC at the pharmacy now. Peri definitely caused plenty of period "oddness" for me.

Same here Raspberry some days hardly any flow and then bang back again since August 2nd. This happened me last year too just the once over Xmas and got checked for fibroids etc, GP wanted a smear but couldn't have it until I'd stopped bleeding. Put down to perimenopause and thickened uterus as my period came after 34 days rather the 24 day shortened cycle it had fallen into. I'm 56 and just want it all to stop.

Should say, thickened uterus lining

It was normal for me. I had a period that lasted more than a month. HRT has been a lifesaver.

Get it checked out. You can be reassured it's not anything more serious.

Thank you all for the replies. I did see my GP, as suddenly the blood got really heavy again, more like a normal period. She thought it was just a blip, or possibly the new normal for me. Did blood tests to check thyroid function, ovary function, hormone levels (oestrogen and FSH), full blood count for anaemia - all normal, so am assuming I'm not perimenopausal. She didn't think I had any symptoms to suggest I was. Then the bleeding stopped after 22 days. I feel completely normal again, so fingers crossed it was just a strange blip, or maybe my body gearing up for pm. Who knows? But thanks for replying, and hope those of you with similar problems get it sorted.

Just had this spotting and then complete flooding for over 2 months. I was 39!

2 lots of northisterone and a Mirena later I've finally had no bleeding or spotting for past 2 days.

Since 1st June!

I'm now severely anaemic.

I found the northisterone good by the fact it slowed and stopped bleeding after a few days but it would start again 24 hours after I stopped taking them.

I had this. Normal periods all my life. At the end of perimenopause I experienced flooding & clots. The final period was 35 days long. It was like my body's final finale.
Got scanned & had blood tests. All fine. Just caused by hormones.
Post menopausal now. Yippee.
