Femoston period on estrogen

I've just finished my third month on Femoston 1/10. The first month I got my period on the last week of progesterone (week 4). The 2nd month I got no period at all during the progesterone weeks, but came on the first week of starting month 3, 3 days into taking estrogen. The same has happened again - no period during the progesterone weeks, but came on again 3 days into starting my new pack during the estrogen cycle.

If this normal/ok? All my GP said was I should get me period during the progesterone weeks!

I'm wondering if it means my natural progesterone levels are fairly normal, so the tablet progesterone is pushing it up even higher (as if pregnant), so no period until I stop supplementing and stitch to the estrogen.

it's pretty bad that GPs are giving HRT with NO explanation of what happens.

A withdrawal bleed occurs when your progesterone levels fall enough, just like normal periods . In a normal fertile cycle, the progesterone falls away after day 28 (roughly) and a period starts soon after. Same with HRT.

It's normal to bleed usually 3 days after the last progesterone pill. The first month was more unusual. You only have progesterone if you are ovulating.

In peri, your own cycles can sometimes override HRT and you can bleed at other times but it does tend to settle down.

@JinglingHellsBells thanks for the explanation. That makes total sense! My GP explained it as I'd get my period on the 4th week (he compared it to the pill-free week on the combined pill), so I thought the first month was 'right'.

Oh, so it is actually right to have the bleed in the first week of the new pack? I was wondering about that, and when it is supposed to happen, cos my doctor certainly didn't tell me, and I don't think the instructions make it very clear either . I don't think GPs have much of a clue about this. How on earth can it be like 'the pill-free week on the combined pill' when you are still taking a sodding pill every day!?

I’ve been on femiston for over a year and always start my “period” in the first week of the next pack. Usually the Wednesday, but my body waited until Friday this time to sync with me going on holiday Angry

Just had another look at the information leaflet with the tablets and noticed that 'periods' or when to expect bleeding isn't mentioned at all. This isn't adequate, especially if GPs are not advising women, or giving wrong advice. Everything I now know about bleeding patterns on seq. HRT I have had to learn from internet forums. No good enough.
