How long after periods becoming irregular did yours stop?

My periods have been closer together for ages now. If they get closer I can't work out what happens next... do they keep getting closer until life is just one period after another for a while?! And then they stop?

Keen to hear from others / find out what to expect.

Mine haven't stopped yet but they've been random for 5 or 6 years so far ☹️ Cycle varies now between 4 months and 2 weeks. And length varies too, can be just a bit of spotting or 10 days of flooding. I wish they'd hurry up and stop.

Mine quite normal up to 52 but with a really light flow for around a year, then I missed one, had a normal one, missed 4 in a row. After that I think I had one more and that was it. I did have one short cycle of 17 days the rest were around 24-26 days.

Mine started to become irregular when I was 44, went from a 28 day cycle to anything from 21 days to 42 days, and on a longer cycle they were much heavier too.

When I was 46 I got a Mirena coil fitted and haven't had a period since. I had it taken out two years ago at 54 and the odd thing is that I don't actually know how old I was when my periods finally stopped. I'm just very glad they have.

From 40 to 46 they were completely irregular (3 weeks to 11 weeks between, sometimes super-heavy, sometimes fairly light), then none for 4 months, then a very light period, then nothing.

At 46 they started getting further apart, generally the same flow, but often 5 or 6 weeks between each. Then at 48 they started getting a bit more erratic.. normal for a few months then a space of nothing for 4 months then a mahoosive period (never known anything like it). This happened over a year and then I had a break of 5 or 6 months, one last big period, a couple of v light periods at 50 then nothing else.

Mine started spacing out - I had 3 years of only having 4 periods a year. Then they stopped completely and it's been over a year since I last had a period.

My periods were quite close together for about a year - 18 day cycles - although they were lighter and lasted 3 days instead of the usual 4. They disappeared for six or seven months, then came back and were pretty normal and regular for a few months. Then nothing. No fanfare. No flooding. No spotting. Just nothing. That was almost 2 years ago. I'm 53 now.
