Pregnancy tests in case it’s NOT menopause?

So, apart from a couple of years ago when I had a couple of 40ish day cycles, I’ve been on 24-26 day cycles since last DC. So Jan I had a period on day 24, then Feb day 24 again, March day 24, then in April a very short 2 day bleed starting on day 17. Then nothing for 46 days (I did do a pregnancy test on about day 35 but negative). I am now on day 78 and wondering if I should still be pregnancy testing “just in case”.

I am 51 years old. No other symptoms really, libido seems normal, no dryness. I THINK I may have had the odd hot flush and I’m having trouble sleeping recently but put that down to the stress of lockdown and how it’s affected work etc. I regularly get that “feeling” that my period is about to start and then..... nothing....

I’ve seen in here that some people have been told flatulence and bloating is a symptom - in which case I have that one 🤭.

Should I just relax or should I be testing? We use condoms for contraception (have done for over 20 years except when trying for our youngest DC) and do use them properly.

Similar age to you and I say relax! I only had a hot flush when it was the hottest day of the year, so, hardly out of nowhere. Fine the rest of the time. I'm taking back to back progesterone only so no periods. But despite being of the age, I've no symptoms of menopause (apart from the heavy periods I went on the back to back pill to eliminate), so, I think it's normal, it doesn't mean you could be pregnant! That is impossible at 51 without fertility treatment, especially when you're using condoms.

Thank you! I was just getting myself a bit wound up I think. Just putting some dates into my calendar and realised just how long it’s been....

Sensible thinking.... all my previous pregnancies (5 but not all “stuck”) my first actual sign was hard, veiny, uncomfortable boobs, and there is no sign of that now!

I’ll relax and enjoy not having my period (what’s the betting I get suddenly get a huge one on holiday though 😂).

@L8Bloomer The oldest recorded natural birth was a woman aged 56.

Could be effects of lockdown OP, see the "pandemic affecting your menstrual cycle" thread which I've posted on recently. I had no periods for about 6 (mine are short) cycles! This has happened to me before when am very stressed, although never for as long.

I’m going to assume she wasn’t using contraception though..... 🤞
