Tablet form HRT, when to take and how long to work

Hi, I just got prescribed Femoston (1mg+10). I have been taking it from Thursday, haven't felt an iota better although I really wasn't expecting to.

Questions - when is the best time to take the tablet form (really wanted patches but the sequential HRTs are unavailable, still). At start of day with a glass of water, or a bit later with breakfast? Or at night? Or is it irrelevant? And when did any MNs find that their symptoms started to abate? I keep reading glowing accounts of how women started to feel better within three days, which really isn't helping me. I had flushes ferociously last night, but then there is a freaking heatwave at the moment. Thoughts?

None of that matters- take it whenever .

You can't expect to see much difference in 2 days.

The medical advice is you allow 12 weeks to see if it helps.
It's not like taking aspirins or pain killers.
No immediate effect.

Be patient :)

Thank you. I think my natural hormones are at rock bottom really. But the 'within three days my symptoms had vanished, the clouds had lifted and I had got my life back' brigade do annoy me, I have to say.

I have nearly finished my first month of the same HRT. I read that taking it as close as possible to the same time of day is the best thing. I therefore take it at 6.30pm. That way I am not going to stress if I have a lie in one morning.

Sorry to annoy you but I have noticed a difference. My hot flushes are massively milder and I have only had one night sweat that was not nearly as drenching as many. My mood has also improved but that could well be psychosomatic.

The first bleed came a bit earlier than expected and lasted a full week (my bleeds have never been long) but I am sure there is a way to go before all that settles into any kind of routine.

I hope things work out well with the Femoston since I am sure it must be a nuisance if you have to chop and change until you find what works best for you.

Oh thank you Spodge. I am trying not to be impatient but the last few months have really sucked - kids off school since March (my youngest is only eight), and very hot weather. I can't wait to feel better!

Re the bleeding, I think there may well be a conflict with your natural cycle, however erratic it has become, and I am expecting it to be a bit rough for a while!

Anybody know how long the HRT saus in your system for? Does it build daily etc. I'm a week in on 1.5mg gel and will be adding 200 progesterone for 10 days. My estrogen levels are 200 pmol and I've not had a period for 8 months. I had absolutely no symptoms until 3 months before my last period. Now I have every symptom. I have tried vitamins, anti depressants and neither gave me any relief at all. I am hoping the HRT helps.
