Hi there,
I hope you can help, because I'm getting into a bit of a muddle with the HRT. I am peri, and have periods, so am on estrogen gel (2 pumps every day) and progeseron pills which I take for the last two weeks of each month. The gel is great and I feel very calm and well balanced with it, so no complaints there. The doctor proscribed utrogestan 100 but one pill a day, whereas the instructions say two. I am 14 days into my cycle and my period has arrived. I haven't even started on the progesterone yet. SO do I just continue with the progesterone as proscribed and maybe end up with a two week (heavy) period?
I have really lost track of when my normal period would have been, so I don't know whether the HRT is working in tandem with my normal cycle, or if somehow I am fighting against it. I'm not sure what to do for the best.
Can you help?

On a cycle, the dose is 200mgs a day for 12 days.

Regarding the timing- ideally you need to start it at the same time as your own midcycle- so thats around day 15, but in peri that can be impossible to know.

If you start it now, you are unlikely to get another bleed of anything much after 12 days because all the lining has come away now with your own period. It won't build up much when you are taking the progesterone.

Thanks @JinglingHellsBells - I hoped you swing by! You’re our resident specialist.
So do you think the Pharmacist’s instruction to take ‘one capsule at night’ was an error and that I should follow the packet’s printed instructions and take two? I guess I should check with Doc...

@IDidntChoseThePondLife The leaflet gives the two options...

1 100mgs daily for women post menopause
2 200mgs for 12 days for women still with periods.

Stick to 2)!

Good luck. Don't think you need ask dr as it's on the leaflet.

Thank you Dr JinglingHellsBells :D (although maybe you'd be a consultant?)
I will do it - hope that extra progesterone doesn't turn me into a short tempered monster PMT-style, my poor 12 year old daughter is suffering enough with her own hormone surges!
