HRT side effects

I'm due to start HRT next week. I'm 41 and finished chemo and radiotherapy 5 weeks ago.

Are there any major side effects? Bloating etc? I'm due to go on holiday on 12 August and I don't want to start them until after if that's an issue.

I really think it's best not to ask this!

There are possible side effects to every single drug but many people get none!

Everyone is different.

I have never had bloating and never had side effects other than some morning nausea when I increased the dose at the start.

There is a risk that if you are given a list of side effects, your brain will imagine them (i'ts the reverse placebo effect.)
Just start and don't look for issues.

Hope it goes well !

I have to say I didn’t have any side effects when I was on a low dose - I felt pretty much instantly better than I had been feeling. My digestion has changed in last couple of years and I get some bloating from that but I think that’s just age not HRT and have l pin pointed it to some food.

My only side effects were good ones which is pretty usual for me 😁

Oh I'm glad to read some people had good side effects. I'm hoping for a bit more energy!

Nausea I can deal with. I've still got anti sickness tablets left over from chemo.

I think I'll start them and see how I go. Thank you 😊

I did have side effects but it will be different for everyone.

I had bloating and the Provera tablets made me feel drowsy. I would bleed on the first day of taking the Provera tablets for a day.

As I mentioned it is different for everyone.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 09/07/2020 22:27

I will see which one they give me.

My periods were always bang on 28 days before. They stopped as soon as I started treatment and not even had any symptoms since. They just disappeared.

Only a few headaches before my period but I am not sure if they are due to hrt or something usual.

I've just started HRT too and so far so good a week in . I'm not sure how long it takes for you to experience side effects . Is it straight away ? Any thoughts?

Emerald13 · 28/07/2020 10:31

Actually I hadn’t any side effects, after 2 years on hrt I noticed only a few headaches but I am not sure if it is because of hrt.
