Night sweats :(

This is really getting me down. I could deal with not sleeping but having to wash the sheets every day and having my bedroom smell sour every morning is really getting me down.

I’m on HRT and a healthy weight. I exercise and walk daily and have been vegetarian for decades. I can’t face giving up caffeine (About 2 cups of coffee a day and a cup of tea). I’m pretty stressed much of the time but there’s not a lot I can do about that.

Any supplements, dietary changes that might help? I probably do eat too much spicy food. Exercise earlier or later? I was never a sweaty person prior to menopause. It’s mostly my back and the underboob area. The rest of me doesn’t sweat at night (or much during the day).

So my friend who is a breast surgeon and deals with this a lot gives the following advice:

Do some form of exercise that makes you seriously sweat during the day. So it isn't about the exercise itself (so can only be 5 mins) just get very sweaty!

Secondly Accupuncture can help

Hopefully one of these work!

Ah, interesting! Maybe it’s time to get back to hot yoga. I walked to work all year but that didn’t make me sweat. The last 3 weeks I started kettleball, but again, no swearing. I’m working up to the Chloé Ting challenge and I think that should get me sweating for sure! Thanks :)

If that doesn’t work I’ll try acupuncture. I quite like acupuncture, but it’s finding time to do it.

Woops, kettleball is making me swear, but not sweat. It is working on the lack of muscles though!

TBF kettlebells can make you swear! Grin

I'd stop the spicy food. I can't eat spicy food and garlic does me in. It keeps me awake, makes me hot and just feel awful. I hate the stuff.

Also, it might simply be you need to adjust the hrt dosage. What dose estrogen is it? If it's pill form you lose a lot in digestion for a start, so patches and gel are better.

I’d read, though, that the gel might make boobs swell and mine are already bigger than I’d like for my frame.

I’m on 1.5 mg of estradiol and 200mg of progesterone.

Sometimes I just sleep on a towel, I’ve got some of the lightweight camping ones that are soft.

They can be diet related, especially sugar. Mine have been horrendous during lockdown but so has my diet. I gave up sugar last Thursday and haven’t had one since, previously they were daily.
