Mood level through cycle

I'm 47 and have heaps of peri symptoms, however it's my moods that are causing me most trouble.
The week before I ovulate is a nightmare - I have severe anxiety to the point where I can't function at all.
Once I've ovulated I feel great again, all the way up to the end of my period when my mood changes again.

Any ideas if this shows a hormonal imbalance? It's the same every month and it's so difficult to deal with. I've looked online and it doesn't seem to follow the normal hormone charts.

Thanks Smile

Im having some peri symptoms especially anxiety. Im going to start tracking my moods / anxiety with my cycle.

I was like that but I don't really know when I'm ovulating now. 5 days late and terribly weepy and anxious currently. So fed up with it.

Like you I’m still having periods, there starting to mess about a little, few days early or late, and has gone from being 6-7 days to 4/5 days now, I’m 49, but my mood swings pre menstrual have always been awful, but now I have days where I’m like it that can be anytime of the month, and the tiredness can hit like a brick one day and the next I can be fine, makes me feel unhinged at times.

Interesting, I did not know anxiety was another bloody symptom.

Yes I am exactly the same with my symptoms and booked a consultation. Doctor did bloods and confirmed peri with lack of estrogen and has just prescribed estrogen gel on a cyclical basis

Hi @HousesforChickens, I am exactly the same at 41. I know it’s more common to have problems after you ovulate but my cycle is like you. My worst time is just as my period ends and I have really bad anxiety and social withdrawal. Then I have a second wave where I’m more depressed before my period.
I was told my a gynaecologist that it’s the reaction to the change in oestrogen. Whereas most people react to a lowering before your period we seem to get it as it rises to. Sensitivity to changing oestrogen in both directions.

I started on oestrogen gel (I already had the Mirena coil) as I was getting some anger/rage peri symptoms too. I’m only up to two pumps, I’m not right yet and the aim is to get up to 4 pumps to suppress my cycle x
