Hello, new to site and would love some thoughts.I’m 52 this year and in 2018 had a 10cm fibroid treated using the UFE method,I had extremely heavy clotting periods.went well for almost a year.then Oct 19 to jan 20 had no periods just hot flushes and night sweats, but mood was great as no periods..The Feb got a light period March getting heavier and now been bleeding since June 8 ! Thought I had an infection dodgy discharge, couldn’t see a doc due to covid so have had 2 calls and she seems unconcerned but the blood isn’t normal like a thicker rusty brown red and not me,also sore across front c/section scar from 14 yrs ago and a bit pinch pain lower right below hip bone, she is pushing mirena.Had cerazette couple of years before ufe but think that’s desorgesterol ? And not levongesterol like coil.dont want to risk expulsion due to massive flooding and some clots starting again,oh and a retroverted uterus, tilted back not forward.how special am I! Do I push for infection tests uti test ultrasound? Not a pushy person and hate asking for stuff.
Just want to stop bleeding so I know what’s normal now.

Hmm...can see you are worried but bit confused as you seem to be adding 2 and 2 and making 5.

Unless something has got into your uterus an infection is highly unlikely. I am not sure if you are talking about a vaginal infection or an infection in your uterus as you talk about the blood being a funny colour. TBH colour of blood is not important.

Not sure why you think the Mirena would be expelled due to flooding as it's supposed to stop bleeding.

What kind of infection do you mean? STI? Womb?
Thrush?

It sounds as if you have heavy bleeding as a result of peri meno and the treatment is the Mirena- it works well for lots of women.

Hi,well it was the dodgy discharge a week before due on,sort of yellowish glue TMI sorry,no itching, there’s a smell but as I don’t smell used tissues normally not sure if that’s normal. She said you’d know if it smelt,it’s quite offensive.Dr said can happen in peri before period, don’t worry,Then the ongoing rusty yogurt period.
Also the reason I was questioning the coil is if it just opens up its t bar arms how does it stay in place with such heavy flows and clots. Same as you about coil, exactly,it’s meant for those problems. But one of the side effects at the beginning is more bleeding,MORE, not sure I’d want to go there on top of this.

Hi OP
I'm early fifties and and for the last two years I've been in a cycle of missed periods/ flooding/ brown or orange discharge.
I have zero medical knowledge so can't advise Re possible infections etc but from everything I've read about my own situation - it all fits within what would be classed as 'normal' in the lead up to menopause.
If you have any concerns I would ask about the possibility of having an ultrasound.

Perihell- if the Mirena fell out due to heavy bleeding it wouldn't be offered as a treatment, would it? No women would use it.

And it doesn't always make bleeding worse- where did you find that info?

😂 Too much searching on here.

I think it's easy Peri to take an attitude of nothing will work- you won't get women who are happy with stuff coming to forums to say Hurrah!

If you talk yourself out of everything thinking of 'what if worst case' you will never move on.

Highly unlikely it's an infection as you might have a temp and a lot of pain.

If it's an STI then you need to think of where it's come from.

Vaginas don't normally get infected unless it's an STI, thrush or bacterial vaginosis. (and you can buy stuff OTC for that.)
