Help please!
I’ve been on evorel conti since July 2019. I’m 51. All was fine until on June 1st my breasts got very sore (and still are) and then today 24th June I have got a period complete with period pain.

Does anyone know what is going on please and whether I should see the GP?

Hi there maybe a bit more info would help us @Egghead68?

How far into menopause were you when you began the conti type of hrt?
How long had you been using sequential Evorel first or another type?

Assume you know and your dr does that conti is only for women who have not had a period for 12 months or more.

If this wasn't you it's likely your period is just that! A period.
It can happen and at 51 you are just at the average age for menopause .

If your periods had not stopped for 12 months before using a conti type of HRT then it's probably a period.

The rule is that any bleeding 12 months after a final period has to be investigates (scan is the first step) BUT if you are using hrt that makes a difference because there can be all kinds of breakthrough bleeding issues AND you had sore boobs which seems to indicate hormones,

Thank you very much @jinglinghellsbells. It is my first HRT. I was supposed to go on evorel sequi because my periods had not fully stopped but because of supply problems I got conti instead and just stuck with it (need to change anyhow as risks are lower with sequi). It seems odd to me that the hormones in conti didn’t suppress my period but it’s reassuring to know that is probably what it was. Thank you.

The level of hormones in HRT is never as high as our own and if you produce more estrogen, the progesterone side in hrt is not enough.

That is great. Thank you so much for your help. It has reassured me.
