Patches to gel & utrogestan

Hi, I've been on Evorel Sequi for 19 months and will be switching to Oestrogel & Utrogestan next week. My question is - does anyone know if I start the utrogestan straight away or wait a few days after finishing the patches? I'm going to try conti (I'm 50) and see how I get on.
Thanks x

If you use it as conti you start gel and utrogestan on the same day.

Were you 12 months period-free before the Evorel? If not you might get your own period breaking through with conti.

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells , I just wasn't sure if maybe I needed to get the norethisterone out of my system before starting the utrogestan straight away.
Do you think it would be ok to start the gel/utro on my next evorel conti patch change day? Rather than waiting to finish the last 2 patches.
I'm still peri most likely, but after reading Dr Newson's website, she says after a year or so on cyclical this can be changed to continual. I'm going to give it a go and see how I go, although fully aware I might not get on with this regime.
My symptoms have started to edge back in on ES, and I had a bit of a menopause meltdown last night so fingers crossed the gel will help!
Thanks again x

I don't think you want to double up on progesterone if you are getting some in the patch.

A lot of women find it easier to start Utrogestan on certain days of the month, like the 1st or the 15th.

So depending on where you are in the cycle now, you could wait till the 1st July or 15h July for utrogestan.

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells . Do I count day 1 as the day that I would usually start a new pack of patches? Or the first day of my withdrawal bleed? Then take utrogestan for 25 days with 3 day break? Apologies for all these questions! Smile

There may be info on the leaflet on what to do if you are changing from one regime to another (have a look?)

I think it would make sense to start the new regime when you come to the end of the last patch.

Also there is no need to take it for 25 days- some drs advise women to take it every day. The only reason for the 25 is a kind of 'insurance' to get a bleed if there is any lining to come away.
Lots of women using the conti regime with Utrogestan take it every day.

However, if you are still not sure what your own hormones are doing it might be sensible to give your body the option of a bleed is there is anything to come away.
