Contraception query

How long do I need to keep using contraception?
I'm 53, haven't had a proper period for almost two years, but have had spotting here and there over that time which has been investigated and nothing untoward was found.
Friends tell me I don't need contraception any more as I'm too old to get pregnant but google is less clear when it comes to spotting vs a normal period.

Spotting could be very light periods, as unlikely as that sounds.

I think they say that conception after the age of 54 is unlikely, and in your shoes I'd keep going with contraception for up to age 54. That's not long to go, so unless you hate the type you are using, it's not long to wait.
