Hello all. I am in Turkey so we only get Climate patches here which is apparently an old technology. I ve read on one doctor's blog that you can't dose once a week ( its once a week change patch) and that he recommends it should be changed twice a week. Otherwise he thinks l won t get the right dose. I am really confused, l want to get the right dose but l also don t want to get more than l need. I know that many of you in the UK are using twice a week change patches. My patch is once a week change. My question is, is once a week patch same with twice a week patch or are there differences in between them? For example on my patch it says l get 50mcg estradiol per day. Do you also get the same daily amount? If you get the same daily amount and are been told to change it twice then it just confirms what this doctor says. Help please! Thank you.

Hi I just googled and Climara is definitely a once a week patch.

Most of the patches available in the UK are a twice a week change, but obviously you follow the prescribing information for the specific brand to know how often to change the patch.

Patches usually come in daily doses of 25, 50, 75 & 100 mcg Estradiol.

So if you are using a 50mcg Climara patch changed weekly you will be getting the same amount of Estradiol every day as a different brand 50mcg patch.

If you are finding the dose is not high enough for you, then you would need to change to a 75mcg or 100mcg patch, not change the patch more frequently.

Hope that helps!

@JaggedHedge Thank you so much for your time. Acoording to this doctor those patches can not last for a week and lose their ability to give the desired dose. What l wonder is the difference between the two style of patches. The one which is a week change and the other ones which are twice a week change as they all are supposed to give same amount of estradiol per day. Its true that Climara patch doesn t really last for a week and changing it twice a week would be great. Only worry would be, would that be ok to do so as its off licence. For the monent l ll keep it on weekly and ask my doctor next time l see him.
