Just found out I’m in early menopause and have been advised HRT patches due to being 42. Anyone had experience of them?

I'm about to start them (I'm 45)

Hello! I am the same as you and due to start the HRT patches, but doing some more research at the moment. So I am following this thread with interest!

I'm on trisequence HRT tablets (looks like the pill) since 41. I wasn't offered a patch. Just took what the endocrinologist Recommeded

Thanks for the responses. Those who have started hrt did you get much side effects? I know everyone’s different but just wondered how they affected you? Or was it just positive....which would be great! I think I’ve been going through menopause for at least two years now. I started missing periods for 4-6 months two years ago but all I did was panic I was pregnant! Never thought it could be menopause as my mam was ‘normal’ age. I’ve been on sertraline for 6 months for anxiety and I’m wondering if that could be due to menopause too.

I have Citalopram for my Mental Health probs but have found that it greatly reduced some of my Menopausal symptoms and Dr said she'd of recommended it if I wasn't already taking them! The menopause did amplify a lot of my symptoms

I had some headaches when l first started. The patches that were prescribed (evorel) are out of stock since late last year so had to change to patches and tablets. I put on 1/2 stone, periods are more painful but in general l feel alot better on hrt.

I started my hrt at 42 and still on it, I am 44 now. I am on pills cause I find them more convenient for me!:)

How were you ladies diagnosed? My consultant has said it looks like I’m menopausal as my bloods show this. However, I’ve not had a period for 15 months so am I through it or is it a how long is a piece of string question? I’m picking up my patches tomorrow, I thought the gp might discuss it with me but he’s just got the letter from the consultant and sent the prescription to the chemist!

Because of my symptoms, I had almost regular periods but lighter and a high Fsh.
