Night sweats and blood tests

Hello ladies. 2 years ago I was told my gp I was in perimenopause. Had many symptoms. Periods erratic etc. Had hot flushes last summer for a few months. Now they have returned with night sweats that wake me every hour or 2.
Telephone consultation with not one of my usual doctors. Put me on clonidine for flushes and sweats... seemed to make them worse. So I had another appointment yesterday and the dr has told me to go for blood tests, for cancer, to check thyroid, diabetes etc. And a chest x ray and an ecg! Worried sick now though! Anyone else had this? My only symptoms are the flushes and sweats. Thanks in advance. Fiona

No, not had that. I asked for HRT and was given it.

You need HRT not tablets for blood pressure.

See a dr who knows what they are doing. I've never heard of anything to silly as X rays and so forth for menopausal symptoms! Exposing you to radiation for a start, and sending you into a hospital. What are they thinking of? It's madness.

You are being messed about and certainly don't need a whole raft of blood tests if you are over 45. NICE says that drs are not to use blood tests, but prescribe on symptoms alone.
