Totally lost the ability to regulate my temperature!

Its been a month since I first missed a period and I’ve totally lost being able to control how hot or cold I am!

Day, night, anytime I can be boiling or freezing with no warning. It is always when I wake up

What the hell do I do? Or take?

I’m moderate in alcohol, coffee, I exercise, don’t eat that much sugar, my bmi is about 24.5 so I need to maybe lose a bit.

Maybe it’s eating or my morning coffee? What the hell is happening to me?! Has anyone else found this?!

GP offered me mild anti-depressants as they kill hot flushes and regulate temperature apparently. I decided against, bought myself a room fan & have just ordered a 'Chillow' so I can hopefully get some uninterrupted sleep. Like you I have days and times when I feel cold. I have a blanket near sofa, so I can cover up when necessary. It's a good idea to have blood tests with thyroid check. I'm doing this next week.

It's very normal in perimenopause. It was my only significant symptom really. I'd recommend a chat to your GP, they might want to do blood tests.

Some natural remedies can help, those containing sage or soya are said to be the ones to take. I'm only a sample of one but I found the Menopace Plus vitamin supplement seemed to help with the overheating.

I haven't personally felt the need to take HRT but that might also be an option for you if you wanted to.

Yy to thyroid bloods, this was one of my symptoms.

I keep a duvet + quilt on the bed (quilt on top of duvet). If I'm hot I can push aside the duvet and just have the quilt, if I'm cold I can tuck the quilt under me so there are no gaps in the duvet iyswim. Stops me boiling or freezing in the night. It sounds like it would be even hotter than just one or the other but it makes it really easy to adjust coverage without having to move much.
