Is menopause always at a similar time to your mother?

My mum started menopause about 55 and stopped bleeding about 2 years after.
I'm 40 and I'm wondering if it sounds like it's starting.
I've always had very heavy and regular periods and that's not changed but I've been experiencing brain fog, sweating, insomnia, more sore than usual breasts, period pains which I don't usually get and migraines that all seem to be cyclical.
I paid for private blood testing and my thyroid, vits D and B12, Iron and ferritin are all optimal. My cholesterol is normal, as is my blood pressure.
I'm slightly overweight at a size 16.
Does it sound like menopause or something else?

I had mine much later than my mother. I think it is an indicator but not definative.

Thank you.
So this could possibly be the start then.
How do you definitely know? Do you get a hormone level test or is it just based on your symptoms? I've no clue!
