Is this a period?

Hi all, I had a successful ablation 9 years ago, I'm 48 now. Not bled since the ablation but still noted my cycle sometimes albeit I wasn't as aware of the timing of it as I had been with heavy bleeding. Usually I'd note tender breasts and oily skin.

For about the last 4 days I've had horrendous cramps in stomach and thighs, to the point it wakes me, and bowel irregularities. All exactly as I used to get when I had regular heavy periods. My skin has also gone oily and I want to eat everything in sight! Sense of taste is heightened and I'm laughing almost uncontrollably at anything daft!

Does this sound like a "bad period" that could be a precursor to the menopause? I have low level anxiety and difficulty concentrating and weight gain. But I could also put those down to other things.
