Evorel patches tips please

Hi

After 4 months of gel I asked for patches as I found the gel a faff and I wasn’t sure what would happen when I have to apply sun lotion etc.

Anyway I would like to start tomorrow and wonder if there were any tips. I thought I saw a thread with some on but can’t find it.

TIA

Just put into clean, dry skin; they stay on fine

My experience is that they stick better if you don't apply them straight after the shower.

I apply them to the top of my buttocks, and I bend forward slightly while doing so. That way the skin is slightly stretched, because the patch doesn't stretch when you bend over after applying it.

If you don’t put them on straight after a shower when do you put them on? Do you alternate each side?

Before I shower in the morning, or at bedtime.

Yes, I alternate sides. I also try not to stick on the same patch of skin for another week because I have very sensitive skin.

If you want to put them on after a shower warm the skin with a hairdryer first, it’ll stick fine.

Well I’ve whacked one on. Really didn’t know what to expect the patch to look/feel like, hopefully it’ll stay put and not give me any dodgy side effects.

Do your patches start peeling at the edges after a couple of days?

The one I put on on Monday is starting to feel a bit itchy and I think it’s because it’s peeling a bit and pulling. I’m wondering if it’s because it’s too close to the top of edge of my knickers and has rubbed a bit. The leaflet shows such a wide area it can be placed, I don’t know where is best for me. Or if I’m not rubbing the edges properly when I apply it.

Yes, it's very dependent on where I place them. Definitely nowhere near knicker elastic or trousers waistband.

I started on these patches yesterday , I now have a dull ache Where the patch is a quite a large surrounding area , it’s quite similar to the feeling of when you have had a tetanus . I’m thinking it’s just my body getting use to it .

Cocolapew · 08/07/2020 16:23

I put mine on the middle of my bum check, I've been using then for 7 years and still sometimes get an ache or itch.

Thanks for the quick reply,
It’s all so daunting at the moment, starting HRT is like the next chapter of growing old , I’ve put it off for such a long time , but the low mood and mood swings ( wanting to kill my husband of 30 years ) was just getting out of control . Not to mention total loss of sex drive . I’ve managed through for about 1 year . Really hope this is as good as what I am reading

I'm on it after having my ovaries removed, I struggled to get it during the shortage and decided to try to come off it. I managed for a month then went on a generic one, I felt awful.

Tallandall · 16/08/2020 17:12

How are you getting on now OP. I tried Evorel Conti for 3 months then the pharmacy couldn’t get hold of any so I had to try something different. I loved being on the patches but the other tablet just didn’t work.

Flashinggreen · 09/09/2020 18:06

I’m getting on fine, had no symptoms come back when I changed and so much better than the gel.
