Well worth a listen to on iPlayer. Start of prog at 10am.

Dr Louise Newson talking about current research into the role of estrogen and how it may help women not catch Covid or have fewer symptoms.

She also touches again on the risks and benefits of HRT, regardless of Covid.

can people even get hold of HRT now?
can you get a doctor's appointment to prescribe the HRT?

Bagelsandbrie · 23/05/2020 08:48

Yes people can get HRT - you can still make an appointment with your GP.

The Newson health clinic - where Dr Louise Newson comes from - is still offering private telephone and Skype appointments too where HRT can be prescribed. I have booked an appointment myself for next week (this is why I clicked on the link)!

Interesting
I did notice on the covid app there seemed a lot of questions about periods.

JinglingHellsBells · 23/05/2020 10:00

@EvilPea Yes, she is working with the people behind the Covid Zoe app to discover if women who are post menopause and not using HRT have different Covid experiences than fertile women, and she is also working with 2 research depts in universities- one might be Liverpool and the other is London- either Kings, Imperial or UCL- AND also with a uni/ hospital in the US. it's explained on Woman's Hour prog.
