Hair loss worsening and constant sore boobs

Hi all
I’m 46 and been on the Mirena for about 2 years due to random heavy periods (before that cycle had shortened for 30 to 23days) now no periods to speak of.

Had Mirena fitted Jan 18 and noticed huge hair thinning about Nov that year which I put down to stress from a job change. (Plus young kids dad with dementia etc etc!) Since ive done the whole Phillip Kingsley thing and have the 3 M drops for 6 mths blood tests etc which only show a very very small reduction in thyroid t3 function - like 1 point outside the normal range. Hair is no better if not worse with more more breakage and thin at sides. Especially recently.

I also have terribly sore boob almost all the time. They’re at least 2 cups sizes bigger than pre Mirena. And fluctuate but seems almost always sore - I feel them every step I take.

Other meno signs actually seem better as the 3m drops are kind of hrt for your scalp - I sleep better, memory is better and I am not and entire ball of rage all the time (a lot). Before the drops I had been to the DR to get HRT as thought it might help hair but basically it was around the time of the latest scare and I was too afraid to use it.

So I know I need another trip to DR post corona to sort out but would welcome any thoughts (Anyway I can see: be consulted at the moment?( . I am thinking about having the Mirena out and going cold turkey for 6 months to see if my hair gets better. And my boobs (suspect it’s the drops affecting my boobs ...!!!)

I know it sounds terribly vain but it’s feels so obvious and I have always taken real pride in how I look and it’s just looks thin and stringy and I always had tons of fine very shiny hair and it dents my confidence every time I look in a mirror.

Would welcome anyone with similar experience. Thanks

Hi all I've just joined mumsnet although I have been dipping in and out for a while. I'm concerned about my hair loss around the hairline and have noticed this for a few months now and haven't been able to put my finger on it but I think it is due to my HRT. I'm 52, taking kilovance which on the whole has made me feel better, I sleep better, my metabolism has been kickstarted. I've tried most HRT tablets and patches but came stuck with brexit and this is the best the pharmacy could suggest as my GP is impossible to get hold of. Firstly I have to have a discussion with the receptionist then the secretary to get an appointment and then its just trial and error. What do you suggest? I don't like creams or gel. Shall I go cold turkey to stop the hair loss further? Can anyone recommed bioidentical?

@comberbird Someone on another forum said there was a lot of info on the website of Dr Louise Newson on hair.

HRT will probably help your hair and the Mirena might be making it worse.

If you have the Mirena then get would just be adding oestrogen gel which was not found to be a problem in the her scare.
It's taken a few months but my hair is returning to its previous thickness.
Maybe try that first and look at alternatives if it doesn't work for you.

@Hagisonthehill Not sure what you mean about the risks and gel? The research didn't show any difference in risks between different forms of estrogen. There is slight difference in cancer risks between different types of progesterone,

Hagisonthehill · 27/04/2020 15:29

I ment Mirena+oestrogen gel combination is lower risk.Sorry ,this wasn't clear.

Thanks - cleaning another pile of hair off my desk .... I will loom at the website recommended - I have been given patches - can’t recall what they are yet - which should I loom for patch/gel opinions! Thank you all!
