I think I have this condition which I have never heard of before googling symptoms. I’m using Vagifem for internal dryness and Replens although I will be changing to Yes VM when that runs out as I can’t bear the skin shedding side effect.

I’ve been so itchy and sore on the outside and this morning had a good look. My labia seen smaller and have a shiny white covering with red abrasions in places. It’s been going on a while and I thought it was thrush so treated for that but it’s just been getting worse and worse especially at night.

How is this not better known and do I need a gynaecologist or a dermatologist for treatment. My GP will be dismissive I expect because anything that could be attributed to menopause is just something I should put up with apparently.

You need someone who is an expert and that tends to be a dermatologist for this but one who is experienced in treating it.

You need a diagnosis because vaginal atrophy can look similar to LS and vice versa.

A small % of women with LS devleop vulva cancer so do go and insist in a diagnosis.

The Eve Appeal charity has info

My GP was fantastic with this. I had read up on it and fully expected to be dismissed or for them not to know a lot about it but they were brilliant. I have a prescription for eumovate now after trying basic hydrocortisone for a while and it’s been life changing. Totally sorted my symptoms out incredibly quickly.
Definitely have a look at the Eve Appeal but don’t write the GP off yet.

Thank you, I’ll call them on Monday and see what they say. I really can’t keep going as it is that’s for sure.
