Constant low temperature

Hi,
I'm pretty sure i'm in peri now as have alot of horrible symptoms although periods still regular. But i've noticed my body temp is always sitting at 36.1 or .2. It's never normal. Every day is the same. I thought it might be down to having a cold coming but it's been like this for 2 weeks now.
Can anyone throw any light on it?
Thanks x

Have you had thyroid blood tests?

BooseysMom · 16/04/2020 21:42

@psychedelephant.. not for a while no. I keep meaning to see the gp but now this virus has happened.
Thanks for replying.

My temperature is usually around 35.5 to 35.7. I didn't realise a low body temp was a problem?

BooseysMom · 17/04/2020 06:52

@ItWasntMyFault.. thanks for replying. Well not really a problem, just interesting really when i thought the normal temp.was 37. I suppose if you feel well it's not an issue, but i rarely feel well now i've hit peri.

36.1 is ok. 36.4 - 37.4 is normal. Mine regularly sits at 35 or below, I assume related to my raynauds. I was absolutely burning up yesterday, skin red and hot to touch and temp was 37.1

JinglingHellsBells · 17/04/2020 07:34

@BooseysMom Years ago when I was at school, we had to take our temp as part of a class biology project. There was a complete range of temps, all classed as normal. Mine was always 1 or 1.5 degrees lower than 'normal' because normal is an average.

They quote 37.4 I think as 'normal' but that doesn't mean everyone is ill if it's above or below.

BooseysMom · 18/04/2020 21:19

@midnightstar66.. thanks, that's good to know it's within the normal range. I tend to get really high fevers like with the swine flu. 42 was the highest I think! I was hallucinating but thank god the paracetamol got it down.

@JinglingHellsBells..thanks for replying. I always thought 37.5 was normal but now it seems to be 37.

@BooseysMom Out of interest, why do you take your temp anyway so often? I've not taken mine for decades. I don't see why anyone. Maybe that's just me!
I've copied this from the NHS website

What is a high temperature?
Normal body temperature is different for everyone and changes during the day.

A temperature of 38C or more is usually considered a high temperature (fever)

BooseysMom · 19/04/2020 11:22

@JinglingHellsBells.. well i started taking it when we were ttc but now i'm too old so we've given up and i've been getting quite bad peri symptoms too.

Thanks for pasting the NHS temp advice. That's put my mind at rest!

Do you think you are worrying yourself when it would be better not to take your temperature? Do you have health anxiety?

BooseysMom · 20/04/2020 15:45

Yes def! Anyway ignore me. Sorry to be a nuisance (please delete this thread)

You aren't being a nuisance at all. But I felt concerned you were focusing on something that isn't on most people's radar and making yourself worried . constantly monitoring your temp (and some people do the same for their blood pressure) is causing you a lot of anxiety. Have you had any therapy maybe or tried things like online mindfulness or meditation to help?

BooseysMom · 21/04/2020 16:12

@JinglingHellsBells.. thank you. I'm sorry if i sounded off-ish in my last post. Today i had a bad day and even phoned the gp but i ended up not wanting what was prescribed as i would rather try to focus on natural things. Like you say mindfulness is a huge thing that can help, plus meditation. I've been too tired to exercise so that's gone out the window. I'm sure alot of it is down to this bloody lock-down and being stuck with DH and DS!!
Thanks for your concern x
