Do any of you know if you can use Evorel HRT patches without Provera tablets? Thanks

I have Evorel Conti patches which are both progesterone & oestrogen so I don’t need to take anything else

Thank you Bunnylady54.

I hope you don't mind me asking but have had any side effects from using them?

I was originally prescribed Estradot with Provera tablets. One of the side effects of Provera is hair loss.

You need to take progesterone if you are using an oestrogen only patch, to stop the build up of the lining of your womb which can lead to a much increased risk of uterine cancer. You don't have to take provers if it doesn't suit you, there are alternative pills such as northisterone, utrogestan or a Mirena coil.
If you don't want to take it orally then a combined patch such as evorel sequi if you still have periods or evorel continue if you have been period free for more than 12 months.

The patches were brilliant for me. There’s a problem with supplies at the moment so I’ve had other things but they’re nowhere near as good. Can’t wait to start using the patches again

@springflowers20 Have you actually used Provera and had hair loss? Or are you reading the leaflet ? Hair loss is listed as a possible side effect of most hrt but equally it doesn't mean you will get it.

Please don't read all the listed side effects and imagine you will get them.

Companies have to list any side effect found regardless if it's 1 person in 10,000 or 1 in 5.

If you haven't taken them and had hair loss, I'd stop worrying.

You can't use any estrogen only HRT unless you have had a hysterectomy.

springflowers20 · 10/03/2020 12:16

I haven't used anything HRT related yet but I have read about the side efffects

well, ignore them.

Have you read the leaflet with side effects of any drugs like aspirin and paracetamol? No one bats an eyelid at all of those :)

Just try it and see. By hair loss it usually means slightly more shedding for some women.

I've just been put on evorel 25 but hadn't read the bit where it said I needed to start within 5 days of bleeding, I started on day 7. Does that matter? X
