London private menopause specialist recommendation

I'm 43 and was advised/ persuaded to have a full hysterectomy 3 months ago and am suffering a host of symptoms. Whilst my consultant is private, he's not listening to me and it's making me quite depressed, feeling like I have no control whatsoever. I'd like a second opinion on my symptoms and HRT treatment. Can anybody recommend a good specialist based in London? I'm prepared to pay for private help as I'm feeling desperate. Thank you.

Have a look on the Menopause Matters forum. You’ll get lots of excellent recommendations (and advice if you need it) there.

I'm so sorry Flowers

I went to see Prof Studd I London (wimpole st) but it was about 5 years ago. Lovely, knows his stuff. He has a website. (My friend went there too) I was also 43 (well 45 by the time I got there)

Hope that helps x

The British Menopause Society website has a tab on the meno for Specialists and they are listed geographically. Lots in London.

I understood that Studd had retired.

All he will give you is gel and utrogestan,. He doesn't appear to have an individualised approach and I have heard his follow-up/ communication availability isn't that great, if indeed he is still working.

I went 5/6 years ago Jingling so you are probably right! He was really respected at that time though I am sure more are now, there is so much more research.

But 5 years ago he was a good bet. I did get prescribed exactly as you said Grin but I did not have special need for anything as OP does. It was a straightforward early menopause.

He still seems to have a website?

I have had private meno care for over 12 years. I looked at his website and felt he was quite black and white with his treatment. I heard he had retired but can't be sure- maybe he's just cut back on appts.
