Hot flushes, when do they stop?

I haven't had a period for about a year. My main menopausal symptom though is the hot flushes and night sweats. Daytime I get really hot for a couple of minutes around 2 or 3 times an hour. Nights are worse as its more intense and wakes me up feeling sweaty then clammy as I cool down.
I want to try and get through without hrt if possible.
How long do they usually last?

How long is a piece of string.. for some women a short time a year or two, for others it's life long, my mother's in her 70s and still has them,
She should of had HRT years ago but refused and is still suffering.
If your symptoms are interfering with your life then you need to replace your declining hormones with HRT, maybe have a look at .co.uk and get a bit more info.

No one can tell you @Izzabellasasperella!

As the PP says, how long is a piece of string?

Some lucky women get them for 2 years, others for 20+.

My mum was menopausal early 50s and still had flushes in her 80s.
My meno consultant said some women never stop having them.

I recently tried to stop my hrt after being on it over 10 years and had night sweats and mild flushes back within a month. I'm in my 60s.

I wanted to get through it without hrt- surely all women do?- but lack of sleep was too debilitating and comes with its own health risks.
